Report on the Unhygienic Condition of Our Locality

Introduction: This report highlights the poor hygienic condition of our locality, Shantinagar, and the problems it creates for the residents.

Findings: Garbage is dumped on the roadsides and in open drains because there are not enough dustbins. The city corporation does not collect waste regularly, so the heaps rot and give off a foul smell. Clogged drains overflow during rain and water stagnates, which breeds mosquitoes. Public toilets are dirty and the drinking water supply is often contaminated. Many people fall ill with dengue, diarrhoea and skin diseases.

Causes: Lack of civic awareness, inadequate waste management and poor drainage planning are the main causes.

Recommendations: The authority should place dustbins at every corner and arrange daily waste collection. Drains should be cleaned regularly. Residents should be made aware of hygiene through leaflets and community meetings, and a clean-up campaign should be organised with the help of local youths.

Conclusion: If steps are taken immediately, the locality can become clean and healthy.
